A little bit about Chris and Marianne

After leaving the UK in January 2020 on our "Around the World Expedition over a planned 20 months, visiting 20 countries  in our trusty Fiat Ducato 2005 campervan called Trudy.  We soon realised that the plans / visas and research which we had spent the last 6 months working on would change dramatically.  As Covid closed borders around us, we found ourselves residents in a carpark in old town Istanbul, where we ended up being locked down for 95 days.    Determined to not give up on our dream to drive around the world, we managed to get Turkish Residency and ended up spending 18 months exploring the far corners of this amazing country 

With borders still closed to the east  - we had no choice but to make a u-turn and head west, so we shipped to the USA and continue West ...

But 4+ years later, and with the finish line in sight, we have been reflecting about 'us' - the two unlikely, and sometimes hapless novice overland adventurers, who have not only surpassed all of the challenges which we have faced, grown in knowledge, but also built a stronger love and respect for each other as a not so hapless couple on the adventure of a lifetime despite not fitting the profile.
