A little bit about Mel
GB Paralympian and ultra endurance athlete, Mel Nicholls lives life in the fast lane through her racing career and passion for adventure.
A series of strokes in her 20s as a fit and healthy young woman and adrenaline junkie, took Mel’s journey on another path following her third stroke in 2008.
…Fast forward four years after watching the Beijing Paralympics from her hospital bed, Mel raced in front of an 80,000 home crowd and the rest of the world, in wheelchair racing at the London 2012 Paralympics.
Continuing to push Beyond Barriers, Mel combines her international racing career as a marathon wheelchair racer and paracyclist, with her passion for the outdoors and breaking new ground in adventure. Facing challenges in remote wild lands and closer to home, and with her performance skill set of world-class sport, forging a new road in ultra-cycling.
Mel’s mottoes “Dream Big” and “Live an Adventure” are no truer than her real life adventure tales and record-breaking successes, talking all things adventure and sport through her recent Handcycle Britain performance challenge supported by Marquis and The Camping and Caravanning Club.
